Ravi Dahiya Won Silver: In the wrestling arena, the hope of gold medal from Ravi Dahiya has ended. Ravi lost to two-time world champion Javur Yuguyev of Russia in the final of the 57kg weight category. However, Ravi will return to India only with a silver medal. Yuguay beat them by 3 points.
Ravi defeated Sanayev Nurislam of Kazakhstan in the semi-finals of wrestling to enter the final. Ravi got this victory by the victory by fall rule i.e. he had thrown out Noorislam from the match itself.

Ravi and Yuguyev Both in Excellent Form
Both Ravi and Yuguay are in excellent form at the moment. The two have previously met at the 2019 World Championships. Then the Russian wrestler defeated the Indian wrestler 6-4 in a tough match. Ravi got the bronze medal in this championship. Ravi won the gold medal in the 2020 and 2021 Asian Championships. At the same time, he won the silver medal in the 2018 Under-23 Championship.
Yuguyev Russia’s Best Wrestler
The second seed Yuguay has won the 2018 and 2019 World Championships. He is the best wrestler to come from Russia. He has won 15 medals in 16 international competitions in his career so far. Ravi Scored a Stunning Victory in the Semi-Finals
Fourth seed Ravi Dahiya won the match by defeating Kazakhstan’s Nurislam in the semi-finals. Ravi was at one point trailing by 8 points in the semi-finals. Thought they would lose, but with 1 minute left, Ravi pinned the Kazakh wrestler and kicked him out of the match. He was declared the winner by the Victory by Fall Rule.
Ravi Confirms India’s Fourth Medal in Tokyo
Ravi has assured India’s fourth medal at the Tokyo Olympics. Apart from them, Mirabai Chanu has won silver in weightlifting, PV Sindhu has won bronze in badminton and Lovlina Borgohain has won bronze in boxing. It has become India’s second most successful Olympics after the 2012 London Olympics. Ravi is the second Indian after wrestler Sushil Kumar to reach the finals of wrestling.
India Has so far 5 Olympic Medals in Wrestling
Wrestler Sushil had made a record for India to win two consecutive medals in the Olympics. Sushil won a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics. Before Ravi, India has won 5 medals in wrestling. Apart from Sushil, Yogeshwar Dutt won bronze in 2012, Sakshi Malik won bronze in 2016 Rio Olympics. KD Jadhav was the first wrestler for India to win a medal in Olympic wrestling. He achieved this feat in the 1952 Helsinki Olympics.
