Jagat Prakash Nadda (59) was elected the 11th National President of BJP by consensus. He filed a nomination for the post at the party headquarters on Monday as part of the election process. He was made president when no candidate came. JP Nadda is the second leader after Amit Shah to be given the command of the party after the success in Uttar Pradesh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached the party headquarters and welcomed Nadda and addressed the workers. Modi said that Nadda has contributed a lot to the development of the party. He said- I have done party work by sitting on a scooter with Nadaji.

JP Nadda has been a Rajya Sabha MP from Himachal Pradesh since 2012. He is also the Secretary of the BJP Parliamentary Board. He has also held the post of Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare in Modi Sarkar-1. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the party entrusted him with the responsibility of Uttar Pradesh.
