What is Hanta Virus and How It Spreads?
According to the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC), this is a group of viruses that are spread by rodents, especially rats and squirrels. In America, this virus is known as New World Hanta virus and in Eurove and Asia as Old World Hanta virus. This virus is due to a disease called pulmonary syndrome. There are several types of Hanta viruses that spread from different species of rodents. Humans become infected when the virus carrier is exposed to rat urine, feces and saliva.
According to the CDC, the virus spreads in three ways-
- If the rat carrying the virus bites a human, although such cases rarely occur.
- A person comes in contact with the urine or saliva of a rat present at some place or thing and touches his nose and mouth.
- If a human eats something on which the rat’s urine or urine is present.
How Does the Virus Get Infected?
Laugh virus is spread by a person coming into contact with a rat or squirrel. Laugh virus mainly occurs in mice. There is no disease in mice due to this virus, but humans die due to this virus. According to the US Centers for Disease Control, the presence of mice in the home increases the risk of infection with the virus.
How to Know if Hanta is Infected with Virus?

Where Did the Hanta Virus Start?
The first case of the Hanta virus is not from China. The first case of infection with the virus came from South Western America in May 1993. These were the four corners — Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah. A young man and his fiancée were killed by the virus in New Mexico. The CDC in its report has confirmed similar cases from Canada, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Panama, Paraguay and Uruguay.
