  • Ambati Rayudu Announced his Retirement During the World Cup 2019

Hyderabad cricketer Ambati Rayudu, who retired from all forms of cricket, has changed his mind. In an email to the Hyderabad Cricket Association, he expressed his desire to return to the field. Rayudu wrote that he had decided to retire by drifting in emotions. During the World Cup 2019, he had announced his retirement, angry at not being selected in the Indian team.

He wrote to the Hyderabad Cricket Association, “I want to bring to your notice that I want to come back from retirement. I want to play in all formats of cricket. I also want to thank Chennai Superkings, VVS Laxman and Noel David, who supported me in bad times. They kept making me feel that I still have a lot of cricket left in me. ‘

Were Annoyed at not Getting a Place in the World Cup

Rayudu did not get a place in the World Cup, after which he expressed his displeasure over this by tweeting. He was retained as a standby player, but at the time of replacement, he was first replaced with Rishabh Pant and then Mayank Agarwal in the World Cup squad. After this Ambati Rayudu announced his retirement.

On getting a place in the World Cup, Rayudu said, ‘I would not say that it was a sentimental decision because in the last four years I worked hard for the World Cup. I was very disappointed for not being part of the team, but I did not take retirement due to this. If you work hard for something you do not get it, then you decide to go ahead. He said that he still has time to consider this decision and decide to play more cricket. The CSK batsman said, ‘I am not thinking very far, I will take every step and see how things are in the future.’

Rayudu, who has played 55 ODIs for India, has scored 1694 runs at an average of 47.05, with an unbeaten 124 highest score. He has scored three centuries and 10 fifties and his strike rate is 79.04. In the five T-20 innings he has played, he has scored 42 runs at an average of 10.50.
