The Defense Ministry on Thursday approved a proposal to purchase 33 fighter jets to Air Force from Russia. Under this proposal of 18 thousand 148 crores, 12 Sukhoi-30 MKIs and 21 MiG-29s will be purchased from Russia. Apart from this, the existing 59 MiG-29s in the country will also be upgraded.

Navy-Airforce will Get Air to Air Missile Weapon
The Ministry of Defense has also approved the purchase of 248 weapon air to air missiles for the Navy and the Airforce. Apart from this, the DRDO has also been approved to develop a cruise missile that can hit up to one thousand kilometers.
The defense ministry has approved a proposal to procure 38 thousand 900 crore rupees for the defense. Of this, 31 thousand 130 crore rupees will be purchased from Indian industry. Under this, approval has also been granted to upgrade the Pinaka Rocket Launcher Ammunition and BMP Combat Vehicle. Apart from this, software for radio will also be purchased for the army.
Air Force Lost Fighter Aircraft in Accidents
Sources said the Air Force needed new aircraft after losing fighter jets in several different accidents. During the last 10 to 15 years, the Air Force has ordered 272 Sukhoi-30 fighter jets. Senior officials believe that the number of aircraft that have been acquired so far is appropriate for the Air Force’s heavyweight aircraft needs.
Air Force Has Been Flying MiG for a Long Time
The Indian Air Force has been using the MiG-29 for a long time and the pilots here are also well aware of it. But now the aircraft on which negotiations are going on are different than before. The Indian Air Force has three squadrons of MiG-29s, which are being upgraded. A squadron consists of 16-18 fighter aircraft. Apart from this, there are also two training aircraft.
