- In last year’s festive season, e-commerce platforms sold GMV worth $ 3.8 billion
E-commerce companies like Amazon, Walmart’s Flipkart and Snapdeal sold goods worth $ 3.1 billion (Rs 22,000 crore) within the first 4.5 days of the festive season. Redseer Consulting said on Wednesday that the online festive season started well from October 15-19. The start of this year’s festive sale has been more vigorous than last year’s festive sale. Amazon India said that sellers of small towns and towns are getting more orders. Redseer said that total festival sales could almost double to $ 7 billion gross merchandise value (GMV) this year. In last year’s festive season, e-commerce platforms sold GMV worth $ 3.8 billion.

Online Festive Sale Started from October 16
Flipkart’s The Big Billion Days (TBBD) started on 16 October, which will run till Wednesday 21 October. Myntra’s Big Fashion Festival is from 16 to 22 October. The Great Indian Festival of Amazon began on October 17, which will last for about a month. Amazon had given Prime Members early access to the sale from October 16. Snapdeal’s first sale for the festive season took place between 16 and 20 October.
80% of Sales from Regional or Local Brands
Snapdeal said that 80 percent of sales were from regional or local brands, while 20 percent of sales were from national or international brands. This ratio was 65 per cent and 35 per cent in the last festive season. This year, around 70 per cent of orders have been received from sellers in cities outside the top 5 metros, including cities like Jaipur, Surat, Ahmedabad and Coimbatore.

Sale Better This Year Than Last Year
The report says that the first few days of online sales have been much better this year than last year. Redseer said that there are many reasons for online sales to be strong. One is getting cheaper goods online and the mobile phone category is performing quite well. Apart from this, demand from other categories of cities has been good. Flipkart’s annual The Billion Days Sale has started on 16 October. It is ending on October 21. Myntra’s ‘Big Fashion Festival’ is organized from 16 to 22 October. Earlier, Amazon India said that 1.1 lakh sellers have received orders during the first 48 hours of the sale on its platform. However, no e-commerce company has given the figures for the orders received during the sale.
