Freddy Movie Review: Karthik Aryan and Alaya F starrer ‘Freddy’ directed by Shashank Ghosh has been streamed on the OTT platform Disney Plus Hotstar on Friday. Ever since the trailer of this film came out, it was in discussion. At the same time, after the release of the film, once again Karthik Aryan is winning the hearts of people with his never seen avatar. The film revolves around the life of Dr. Freddy Ginwala, a dentist played by Kartik Aaryan. Joe is a shy and socially awkward person. However, the character’s gray shade comes to the fore when he falls in love and keeps on surprising people scene by scene.

The film is quite interesting. Right from the very first scene, it plants a seed of curiosity among the audience. Which grows like a plant after every scene. Throughout the film, the story continues to play out with the strange character of dentist Dr. Freddy Ginwala. It doesn’t let you yawn or blink your eyes even for a minute. Rather, it makes you think about what could or will happen next. The story of the film has been well employed in many ways to reach the heart of the viewer, such as the sad music, the use of dim lighting, and the antics of Dr. Freddy.
Karthik Explores Himself
Till now seen in ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’, ‘Pyaar Ka Panchnama’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’, Karthik is seen exploring his acting in a wonderful way in this film. ‘Freddy’ presents Kartik Aaryan in a never seen avatar. He has tried something new and has done it with utmost sincerity. Unlike any other role he has played in the past, Kartik is perfect in this film as a shy, lonely, and socially awkward person. There is Power in the Direction of Shashank
The great thing about this movie is that you can never predict what Doctor Freddy is trying to do while watching it and that makes you even more curious. Freddie is shy or quiet but it would also not be wrong to say that he is dumb to an extent. Also, he is very smart. Smart enough to seek revenge at any cost. Shashank Ghosh has been successful in showing all this in at least Karthik’s dialogue on the basis of his direction. The way he used external cues to portray an introverted personality is amazing. Alaya F Also Won Hearts
Alaya F is playing the role of Kainaz aka Freddy’s girlfriend in the film. His performance is commendable. He has completed his character with utmost ease. She looks like the girl next door. She makes you empathize with the character when she is a victim of domestic violence. When she emerges as a strong woman, you feel it too. The efforts put in by him are really commendable.
Pritam’s Music Killed
The music of the film is also very good. Two songs ‘Tum Jo Milo’ and ‘Kala Jadoo’ are going to be on people’s lips. At the same time, the music heard in the background throughout the film keeps the story going. Pritam proves himself once again.
Something Went Wrong in the Climax
Talking about the negative points of the film, the only place where the film lacks a bit is the climax. The climax of the film could have been a bit better. Here the script is written a bit loosely and looks like the film is being wrapped up in a hurry. The ending seems a bit awkward. Here the film does not end with a big bang but leaves you hanging in the middle. The film seems to have come to an abrupt end. So overall ‘Freddy’ is a film worth watching. You will be shocked many times throughout the movie, feel like whistling for Karthik. You will surely like his brand-new avatar. Alaya F is working as icing on the cake. But after the end of the movie, you might be scared to ever go to the dentist again, but it’s fun.
